PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
Kathy was born and raised in Michigan. After high school, she attended college and worked for a bridal salon, helping brides and bridal parties. From there she moved on to retail and district training management for PacSun, trendy teenage clothing stores. Recruited by AutoFocus, an advertising publication for car dealers, Kathy managed accounts and maintained customer relationships.
She moved to Aiken in 2006. Kathy worked at her son Noah’s pre-school until he went to school full-time. She then returned to college, taking classes to become a teacher. In May 2014, she also became a FOTAS volunteer walking dogs at the Aiken County Animal Shelter. That “move” led her to realize how much she really loves being with the animals, and she began spending most of her free time at the Shelter with the volunteers, often bringing Noah with her. FOTAS hired Kathy in 2015 as the Programs Coordinator, whereby she works daily with FOTAS volunteers, shelter residents, foster families and transfer partners, to name a few, to coordinate activities on and off the site. “It is a dream come true,” says Jacobs. “Sometimes we are given a gift, an opportunity that fills a void in our lives, and that for me is being part of FOTAS. It is a family that I cherish and that I feel a responsibility to.”
Her contributions to our volunteer team are invaluable. We and the Shelter are lucky to have her.
